About us

Eligible Employers

ESSSuper is a proudly unique fund set up to look after those who serve our communities.  We are not a public offer fund; that means, not just anyone can join.

In previous years if you left your ESSSuper participating employer then you could no longer contribute to the fund. We are pleased to announce that with the introduction of our Accumulation Plan this is no longer the case

Who is eligible?

ESSSuper participating employers cover the emergency services and Government sectors within Victoria, and pay contributions to ESSSuper's defined benefit funds. Check the list below for our key participating employers:

Non government or emergency services employers

By setting up an Accumulation Plan with ESSSuper, existing member’s can now elect to have their SG (employer) contributions paid in even if the employer is not considered to be emergency services or Government sector.

For example, an ESSSuper member who is a public school teacher can go and work at a private school (by either going on Leave Without Pay (LWOP) or resigning/retiring from their current job) and have the private school contribute to their Accumulation Plan.  Previously the private school contributions would need to have been paid elsewhere.  This way - members get to keep all their super entitlements with one fund.
