The devastating floods throughout the country have touched the lives of many Australians. The staff and Board at ESSSuper recognise the shock and loss our members and their families may be facing. Our sympathies go out to all those affected. 

Members who are adversely impacted by the floods may be able to access the following services:

Applications for early release of superannuation benefits
Under superannuation law members may be able to access their superannuation benefits on compassionate or severe financial hardship grounds. ESSSuper staff are available to discuss making applications to allow early access to superannuation entitlements to assist members*.

Reasons for applications include: 

• financial assistance to prevent foreclosure of a mortgage on your principal place of residence, 
• medical treatment and associated transport costs for member or dependant, 
• death, funeral or burial expenses of a dependant, 
• modifications to premises or vehicle to accommodate a disability, and 
• palliative care.

Financial advice
Affected members may be eligible for free financial advice through our financial planning partner Industry Fund Financial Planning**. Assistance may include financial counselling, and full financial advice as necessary.
