Q. Which fund am I in?
A.
Check your latest member statement; it will have the name of your fund written on it and your member number.

Q. What is a defined benefit fund?
A.
In a defined benefit fund your benefits are based on salary, period of membership, age and contribution rates during membership. Benefits in defined benefit funds do not rely on the investment performance of the fund.

Q. What is an accumulation fund?
A.
Accumulation funds rely on contributions and investment performance to increase your benefit.

Q. How do I change my personal details?
A. Fill in a Change of personal details form, write to us or login to your Member Online Account. If you have changed your name you must enclose a certified copy of relevant documentation (e.g. marriage certificate or deed poll). A certified copy is a copy of the original document that has been signed as a true copy by an appropriate person such as a Justice of the Peace or Police Officer.

Q. Do I have to give my Tax File Number (TFN) to my super fund?
A. You can choose whether or not to provide your TFN to your fund however, if your fund does not have your TFN you are likely to incur additional tax or incur tax penalties. To provide your TFN fill in a TFN Notification Form.

Q. What do I need to do to qualify for a co-contribution to super from the Government?
A.
If you earn less than $46,920 (from 1 July 2012) a year and make an after tax contribution to super you may qualify for a super co-contribution. Which means the Government will contribute to your super. More on super co-contributions.

Q. Can super be split in a divorce property settlement?
A. Yes it can be split in the same way as any other asset. More on family law and super.
