Our executive team has extensive experience, knowledge and plays a fundamental role in delivering the best possible retirement outcomes to our members. Here’s a little bit of information about who they are and why they’re perfect for running your fund.
Mark Puli: Chief Executive Officer
Mark was appointed CEO in January 2012 after initially joining the organisation as CFO in November 2009.
For the past 25 years, Mark has worked in financial services and has held senior roles at Aviva Australia, Merrill Lynch Investment Management and Mercer. His solid background has also covered superannuation, investment platforms, funds management, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, product development and accounting.
Mark is a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and of CPA Australia, with a Masters Degree in Applied Finance from the University of Melbourne, and both post graduate and undergraduate qualifications in industrial relations and economics. He is also a member of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia and is a staff elected Board member of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustee.
David Daley: General Manager Member Engagement
David joined ESSSuper in 2018 and leads the organisation's Member Engagement functions, covering Member Education, Financial Planning, Marketing and our Contact Centre teams.
David has more than 29 years of experience in financial Services, with over 18 of those years in the superannuation arena. His background includes roles as a senior executive within member-based organisations. In his most recent role, he oversaw the contact centre operations that supported industry superannuation funds, such as AustralianSuper, HESTA and Cbus. David is a firm believer in building high performance cultures in order to drive success in member services. He is passionate about member experience, and also serves on the advisory board for IQPC Contact Centre Week.
David holds qualifications in Operations, Contact Centre Strategy, Learning and Development and Superannuation.
Duncan Winton: General Manager Member Strategy
Duncan was promoted to the new GM Member Strategy in June 2019.
Duncan is responsible for how ESSSuper effectively engages with members in a dynamic superannuation landscape. Duncan steps into this new role after two years as the Manager Commercial and Performance for ESSSuper.
Duncan has worked across a variety of industries, and companies including ESG, where he was General Manager Commercial, ANZ Bank, Superpartners and CSC. His background includes superannuation, commercial management, business transformation and accounting.
Duncan is a qualified CPA with an Economics Degree from Monash University.
Ian Lancaster: General Manager Trustee Services
Ian joined ESSSuper in July 2019 and leads the organisation's Trustee Services functions.
Ian is an acknowledged leader with over 30 years’ experience delivering governance, risk and assurance services.
Most recently, Ian joins ESSSuper from IOOF where he was the Group Chief Risk Officer from October 2017. Ian brings an in-depth knowledge of the current business and leading risk management practices in both the public and private sector from roles with Ernst & Young, ANZ Banking Group and the Victorian Auditor General’s Office.
Ian is a qualified CPA with an Economics degree. Ian has completed post graduate degrees in finance, investments, banking and governance. Ian is a member of FINSIA, Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Institute of Internal Auditors and the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Bruce Garner: General Manager Corporate Services
Bruce joined ESSSuper in January 2018 as Manager Fund Accounting and was promoted to the new GM Corporate Services in September 2019 to lead the organisation’s Finance, People and Culture, and Technology teams.
For the past 20 years, Bruce has worked in financial services and has held senior roles at Mercer, Cbus (including Cbus Property) and Superpartners. His background has covered superannuation, financial and management accounting, investment operations, direct and indirect tax, property, crediting rates and unit pricing.
Bruce is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants.
Mike Cormack: General Manager People and Culture
Mike joined ESSSuper in 2013 and leads the organisation's Human Resources and Organisational Development functions.
Mike has more than 20 years experience in the HR space. His background includes roles within the financial services industry including roles with ING, Colonial First State and MLC. More recently he has held senior HR roles in large not-for-profit organisations, including The Fred Hollows Foundation and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. His experience also includes several years working internationally in Cambodia and other developing countries.
Mike holds qualifications in human resource management and coaching psychology, and is a member of AHRI.
Daniel Selioutine: Head of Investments
Daniel joined ESSSuper in June 2018 and leads the organisation's Investments function.
Daniel has spent the past eight years working for Frontier Advisors, a leading Australian asset consultant. During his time at Frontier he held a number of roles, including Head of Currency and was a member of the Capital Markets and Asset Allocation team. Prior to Frontier, Daniel worked for Antipodean Capital Management, as a currency analyst.
Daniel holds a First Class Honours degree in Finance from the University of Melbourne and is a CFA Charterholder. He has also facilitated lectures to students undertaking their CFA exams.
