Our executive team has extensive experience, knowledge and plays a fundamental role in delivering the best possible retirement outcomes to our members. Here’s a little bit of information about who they are and why they’re perfect for running your fund.

Mark Puli: Chief Executive Officer


Mark was appointed CEO in January 2012 after initially joining the organisation as CFO in November 2009.

For the past 20 years, Mark has worked in financial services and has held senior roles at Aviva Australia, Merrill Lynch Investment Management and Mercer. His solid background has also covered superannuation, investment platforms, funds management, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, product development and accounting.

Mark is a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and of CPA Australia, with a Masters Degree in Applied Finance from the University of Melbourne, and both post graduate and undergraduate qualifications in industrial relations and economics. He is also a member of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (AFSA) Board.

Alison Anthony: General Manager Governance


Alison joined ESSSuper in April 2015 with 28 years' experience in many aspects of financial services, including actuarial, product, investment management, legal, compliance and risk.

Her career history includes senior management roles at Vanguard, Aviva and Norwich Union. Most recently she has been working at Energy Australia as Group General Manager, Regulatory Compliance, Information Management and Policy.

Alison has formal qualifications as a lawyer, with a Science degree from the University of Melbourne (majoring in Mathematics and Physics), together with a Diploma of Financial Services and an actuarial background. Alison is currently undertaking a Masters of Law at the University of Melbourne.

Mike Cormack: General Manager People and Culture


Mike joined ESSSuper in 2013 and leads the organisation's Human Resources and Organisational Development functions.

Mike has more than 20 years experience in the HR space. His background includes roles within the financial services industry including roles with ING, Colonial First State and MLC. More recently he has held senior HR roles in large not-for-profit organisations, including The Fred Hollows Foundation and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. His experience also includes several years working internationally in Cambodia and other developing countries.

Mike holds qualifications in human resource management and coaching psychology, and is a member of AHRI.

Paul Healey: Chief Financial Officer


Paul was appointed Chief Financial Officer for ESSSuper in July 2016 and brings over 20 years' experience in senior financial roles across a range of industries including industry superannuation, property and construction, higher education, and utilities.

Within industry superannuation, Paul has served for 5 years as a Member Director of EquipSuper, including service on the Investment, Audit & Risk and Appeals & Review Committees. He has also served as an Employer representative on the UniSuper Consultative Committee.

Paul is a Chartered Accountant with a Master of Business (Accounting) qualification from Monash University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has also completed Leadership and Change Management programs at Harvard Business School.

Tim Richardson: Chief Transformation Officer


Tim Richardson has been appointed as the Chief Transformation Officer for ESSSuper, and brings over 20+ years of experience in financial services.

Drawing his experience from Australia and overseas, Tim has held senior positions in industry and across business and technology and has worked with many of the top tier financial services organisations.

Tim is a strategic, outcome focused business and technology professional that can operate at Senior Levels across Operations and Technology to deliver change. His track record also demonstrates his ability to understand business challenges, emerging trends and external forces facing organisations, and deliver change and innovation to that effect.

His experience at running large and complex initiatives across organisations from Board initiation to implementation will be leveraged in this role at ESSSuper. As the Chief Transformation Officer, he will oversee ESSSuper’s Technology division and Program Management Office whilst embarking on his transformational responsibilities.

Tim has deep experience across Wealth, Capital Markets, Superannuation, Funds Management and Risk Management. He has proven experience at a diverse range of organisation including NAB Wealth, CLSA, Stock Exchange of Thailand, ANZ and NBN Co and Equity Trustee's.

Further to his experience, Tim’s qualifications also include a BSc (Applied Mathematics / Statistics), Grad Dip Business, and a Masters which specialised in Operations and Accounting.
