  • Are you covered? - Insurance is about protecting yourself and your family from a financial loss from which you wouldn’t otherwise be able to recover from. Many Australians, however, don’t have enough insurance and unfortunately don’t realise this until it’s too late.
  • Destination Greece - Primary entry into Athens is Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport situated 30 kilometres east of the capital. A modern airport built early in 2001 in time for the 2004 Olympic Games, it is big and beautiful and I believe one of the least complicated airports in the world.
  • Gardening for amateurs - Throughout my time working and since retiring in 2014 after having spent 36 years in education as a teacher (12 yrs.) and Primary School Principal (24 yrs.), one of my main ways to relax and unwind has been to work in my garden. Whether it be digging, planting or growing vegetables, there’s nothing like getting out in the garden to forget about your troubles, stay in shape or even just to pass the time of day.
  • Hidden spaces and stories in Richmond - I love living in Richmond. I love the eclectic mix of buildings. Whether it’s the bricked edifices that remind us of a bold manufacturing past and that now shroud designer apartments, or the weather-beaten weather boards jostling for space among the high rise, Richmond defies easy categorisation.
  • How to work out with no spare time! - Knowing how to maximise those 5, 10 or 30 minutes of your day can be challenging. Especially when you’ve just spent an entire day at work, attempted to drive home in rush hour traffic, finally made it home, now have to make dinner, walk the dog AND find the time to get that workout routine in, all because you were too tired to fit it in this morning when you woke up.

  • Spending habits - A study published by Mortgage Choice (Mortgage Choice 2016 Money Survey) found that in Australia men believe women are fixated on fashion and beauty, while women believe for men it’s sports, technology and alcohol. Though in reality this isn’t the case.

  • The best places to travel before you’re 30! - Explore some of the best places to travel before you’re 30! Your very own travel starter guide covers Shelly's adventures through Italy, Amsterdam, Egypt, and the Philippines.
  • Travelling with the kids - I painstakingly spent weeks planning, preparing and plotting, trying to pre-empt every move my non-walking 16kg toddler would make. There were lists, mock-packs, activity bundles, various snack options, even the slightly naive purchase of baby headphones “just in case” he decided to tolerate them and watch a whole movie non-stop whilst in the air.
  • Travelling without kids - Just imagine being able to pack without worrying about the spill-free drink cups, hand wipes, face wipes, sick bags, or having to referee sibling differences over who has an extra millimetre of seat, or who has the window, or who was next to Mum or Dad! It may elicit a pang of guilt for maybe five seconds, but boy, once we reconcile that with ourselves, what a weight is lifted off us.
  • What is estate planning? - Estate planning is a subject that most don’t like to think about but in its simplest form it’s just about ensuring peace of mind. It is about making sure that your assets and belongings are passed on to your beneficiaries as per your wishes.
  • Why you must go on a cruise for your next holiday - After a busy working life, if you haven’t planned for life after work, the contrast can be a recipe for poor health and boredom!
